Good attendance is essential if students are to take full advantage of school and gain the appropriate skills, which will equip them for life. The Academy aims to achieve good attendance by operating an attendance policy within which students, staff, parents and the Education Welfare service can work in partnership. The school will monitor attendance and ensure quick and early intervention if a problem has been identified.
If a pupil is unfit for school, it is vital that parents make contact with the academy in the morning on the first day of absence.

Registration is a legal requirement and ensures an orderly start to the morning and afternoon sessions. Registers will be called punctually each day at 9.00 am. and 1.00 pm.
Children should only be kept at home if they have a serious illness or injury. If this is the case, parents should contact the school on the first day of absence.
If pupils’ have a dental, clinic or hospital appointment, parents should inform the school office and provide evidence of the appointment. Pupils’ should be brought back to school after appointments. If your child is not returned to school for the following session, the absence may be recorded as unauthorised. Parents should aim, wherever possible to make appointments e.g. dentist/optician outside of school hours.
