Lancot School

Ethos and Values

Here at Lancot, we aim to develop well-rounded individuals who are ready for the wider world that awaits them. We do this by recognising, promoting and living 8 specific character attributes. We categorise these specific attributes through the acronym of SWAN. These represent Success (independence and resilience), Working Together (fairness and integrity), Apsire (curiosity and courage) and Nurture (open-mindedness and self-esteem). Children have the opportunity to explore and discuss these within the curriculum and through our weekly Character Education assemblies. We make time to discuss and explore these attributes and celebrate linked pupil behaviour in our Celebration Assembly. Pupils have the opportunity to record their achievements within these areas through the Lancot Diploma, which you can find more information about under the Curriculum tab on the website. Pupils are given attribute points as a reward when they demonstrate these attributes and work towards achieving their bronze, silver, gold and diamond swan badges.
