Pupil Leadership Blog

School Council

Throughout this academic year the School Council have played a vital role in providing pupil voice. We have discussed very important topics, such as lunch menus and raising money for charity.

We had a virtual meeting after lockdown to talk about school lunches. We asked the children in our class some questions about what they would like to eat at lunchtime and then gave the answers Mrs Jones. Our ideas were then shared with the kitchen.
We also decided how we would raise money for Children in Need. We voted for a spotty race. This was lots of fun and we raised over £200 for the charity.
In December, we had a meeting with some of our school governors. We talked about our lives in lockdown and how school has changed. They took our ideas on board and will discuss them with the rest of the governors.
Maths Leaders
We are the Maths Leaders and across the school it is our job to help every child reach their full potential.
Every Monday and Wednesday lunchtime, the Maths Leaders meet in Foxglove Class with Miss Williams. She makes sure we all understand our roles and responsibilities.
Then, from 12:15-12:40; children from all of the year groups can come to complete their maths challenge. We ask each child 10 questions linked to their half termly objective.
We are really strict so they can’t make any mistakes or hesitate for too long as we want to build every ones fluency. If they pass they receive a certificate in Thursday’s assembly. It is really important that we work as a team and we take it in turns to complete different roles.
We love being Maths Leaders and helping promote maths at Lancot.

Digital Leaders

This half term is going to be a busy one for our Digital leaders here at Lancot. They have a lot of organising and arranging to do for our upcoming hour of code week (Week beginning 3rd December). Our aim is for every child within the school in that week to take part in and complete a programming/coding activity. The digital leaders will play an essential role in delivering the assembly with me to launch the week and being available throughout to support children and teachers complete the various activities. It will also be the leaders’ job to create and carry out a questionnaire about Lancot and its uses of technology. Our first digital leaders meeting will take place at 12:30 Thursday 15th November.
I am very excited for the upcoming year supporting all of our skilled digital leaders.
